Ronaldo’s two goals secure Portugal’s spot in the Euros

Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace paved the way for Portugal to secure their spot in the upcoming European Championship, with a victory over Slovakia in Group J in Porto.

Following Goncalo Ramos’ initial goal, Ronaldo netted a penalty, countered by David Hancko’s response in the 69th minute. Undeterred, Portugal’s captain swiftly reinstated their two-goal advantage, marking his 125th international goal.

Although Stanislav Lobotka added a late goal for Slovakia, Portugal maintained control. This triumph means Portugal has triumphed in all seven of their Group J qualifying matches, ensuring their place alongside France, Belgium, and host Germany in the Euro 2024 lineup. Meanwhile, Slovakia retains their second position in Group J, holding a two-point lead over Luxembourg, their upcoming opponent on Monday.
